I’m Shane O’Connell, a Brooklyn-based sound designer, re-recording mixer, and all-around audio problem solver. For more than a decade I’ve created immersive and compelling sound for projects ranging from national ad campaigns and short films to award-winning podcasts.

I’m best known for the acclaimed sci-fi comedy podcast Mission to Zyxx, included on Vulture’s list of “100 Great Podcasts Worth Listening To.” I serve as sound designer, co-creator, and co-producer on that series and on its spin-off, The Young Old Derf Chronicles -- winner of the 2025 Tribeca Festival Fiction Audio Storytelling Award. The same narrative instincts, meticulous sound design, and fluency with formats from stereo and surround to ambisonics guide every project I take on for picture and podcast alike.​
